Playing With & For The Community
We had our first AGM last Saturday at Urbana (thanks Kelvin for inviting us over!) and boy was it a LONG day!
The AGM was opened by Jacklyn our Chairperson with the aims to foster bonds between committee members and also to go through (more boring) things like our constitution and financial statement… SNORE. But of course now that we are registered as a society proper, we cannot run away from such formalities, as much as the artists in us wants to.
The crux of the meeting was constituted of presentations by each member of the society. We’ve been working with each other for the past year or so, but WHO ARE WE really? Most of the members are practicing artists themselves! We have a good mix of visual artists, painters, ceramicists, photographers and writers and it was during the AGM that we really found that out about one another.
We also elected our new secretary, Melanie, who will be taking over the industrious but gorgeous Reena. Reena will be leaving us to further her studies in Edinburgh — I can already hear Jackie going NOOOOOO we neeeeed you reeeena — but of course Melanie is all ready to fill up those big shoes. Reena, have an awesome time in Edinburgh, and come back soon! We’ll miss you!
In case you’ve been trying to put a face to the names that have been mentioned in this blog, well take a look below! More photos over on our facebook group!
