Playing With & For The Community

Project WeCare: Instrument Making Activity & Workshop

Organised by the People’s Association and graced by the President, Mr Tony Tan Keng Yam, the Garden Party is a platform for the elderly and low-income families living in rental flats all over the island to gather for an afternoon outing with staff volunteers from participating corporations. SCYA came onboard to conduct our popular Music Instrument Making programme for the participants of the event.

First of all, SCYA conducted a workshop with the corporate volunteers coming from various companies for them to learn to assist with making the DIY drums and shakers!

Then on the 9th of March 2014, SCYA and our corporate volunteers manned the 5 instrument making booths during the annual Project We Care Garden Party held at the Istana. All of us spent a rewarding afternoon with the beneficiaries engaging the young and old while enjoying various performances.

All in all we had fun through the tiring Sunday at the Istana! Looking forward to more community projects ahead!
