Playing With & For The Community
School of the Deaf Singapore has engaged SCYA to conduct 8 sessions of art lessons for their students! These students are required to produce a painting as a group or an individual by the end of the programme. The programme, which is being led by Jacquelyn Soo, focuses on arts education as a component and will provide these students a chance to learn about basic art theories separate from their usual art curriculum held in their school.
The pictures below show the students learning about light and tone through simple shading exercises. During the duration of the class, the students who are deaf are taught how to use their vision differently by looking at points of contact between light and materials.
At the end of 8 Sessions, the four students had produced a big A2 size canvas painting of landscape painted in Primary and Secondary Colours! They referenced British Painter, David Hockney in his beautiful landscape paintings. The pictures above are of their final artwork!
